The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) of the United Kingdom has announced that it will be reviewing the artificial intelligence (AI) market. The review will focus on the potential for AI to be used to distort competition and harm consumers.

 

The CMA is concerned that AI could be used to create monopolies or to give certain businesses an unfair advantage over their competitors. The CMA is also concerned that AI could be used to collect and use personal data in a way that harms consumers’ privacy.

The CMA’s review will consider a range of issues, including:
